Spend time in prayer today for someone who is ‘tough to love.’  This may be someone who obviously dislikes you, or someone who has wronged you.

“If you love only those people who love you, will God reward you for that…If you greet only your friends, what’s so great about that? Don’t even unbelievers do that? But you must always act like your Father in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:46-47)

Forgive yourself today.  Acknowledge something you have not let go.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)

Pray for someone who has wronged you in the last year.  Then, find a way to show you have forgiven them.  Send a note, make a call, invite them to lunch…do whatever it takes.

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” (Mother Teresa)

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’” (Luke 23:34)

All day today:  On the hour…every hour…stop and pray “The Lord’s Prayer.”

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread.  Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6:9-13)

Let go of a grudge today.  Forgive and forget.

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me?  Up to seven times?’  Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’ (Matthew 18:21-22)

“When you hold resentment toward another you are bound to that person or conditioning by an emotional link that is stronger than steel.  Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free.” (Catherine Ponder)

Drop a grudge and forgive someone today – even if you don’t think they deserve it.

“When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’” (Luke 23:34)

From “The Traveler’s Gift” by Andy Andrews:

“Knowing that slavery in any form is wrong, I also know that the person who lives a life according to the opinion of others is a slave.  I am not a slave.  I have chosen my counsel.  I know the difference between right and wrong.  I know what is best for the future of my family, and neither misguided opinion nor unjust criticism will alter my course.  Those who are critical of my goals and dreams simply do not understand the higher purpose to which I have been called.  Therefore, their scorn does not affect my attitude or action.  I forgive their lack of vision, and I forge ahead.  I now know that criticism is part of the price paid for leaping past mediocrity.  I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit.  I will forgive…”
